December is on its way, which means a slew of parties, get-togethers and late night outs. What this also means: it’s time to experiment with fun, festive-appropriate makeup looks, just because. And if you’re out of ideas on what sort of makeup look to create, here are some to take note of, as gleaned from the Fall/Winter 2018 runways.
#1: Use bright coloured eyeshadows
We love our nudes and browns but the yuletide season calls for brighter and more fun coloured eyeshadow shades — and the runway agrees. From Marni to Prada and even Sies Marjan, the girls sported fun, pastel and bold shades that are still very much wearable off the catwalk. Pro tip: keep the rest of your face as simple and as clean as possible. Let your eyes do the talking. A lip gloss is enough.
#2: Opt for some punk spirit
If you want to channel your inner ’70s punk, then you have to try this out — a look seen on the models at Miu Miu and Max Mara. We prefer using waterproof eye pencils (I mean, you don’t really want to look like a panda at the end of the day) to draw over your entire lid and take a black — or dark brown — eyeshadow and pack it on top of the pencil while blending out the edges to prevent any harsh lines.

#3: Sorbet lips
These shades make your puckers look juicy with a “just-bitten” effect and it’s definitely one of the most wearable trends we are digging for the party season. Opt for rosy pinks and coral colours and top it off with your favourite gloss — it is that simple.
#4: Coloured mascara
It is time your black and brown mascaras take a back seat as coloured eyelashes are taking over the runways, as seen on the girls at Dries Van Noten. If you want a more dramatic look, match your eyeliner (coloured options, here) to the shade of your mascara, and possibly a lipstick too. Fun.
