Black mascara is a staple in any punk’s makeup kit and this limited edition release promises the blackest-of-black lashes, thanks to carbon black pigments in its formula. A single stroke is said to deliver intense colour and instant volume. Apply it from root to tip in a light zig-zag manner to help create a kohl liner effect along the lash line and the appearance of thicker, fuller lashes.
With a new wand that features a mix of rigid bristles for precise application and flexible elastomer spikes to separate lashes, this updated bestseller is said to pick up just the right amount of mascara and prevent clumping. Upon first sweep, lashes supposedly appear 94 per cent more voluminous – an effect that lasts 24 hours. Also available in blue and brown, its formula boasts vitamin B5, known for its strengthening properties, and cotton extract that contains linoleic acid which promotes hair growth.
Achieve a monochromatic eye look with this multi-tasking product that works both as a long-wearing liner and eyeshadow. In a vibrant, slightly metallic grey shade, it puts a glam spin on conventionally punk black.
Your new deeply intense update of the product that’s a cornerstone of punk makeup: black eyeliner. Known for its smooth, creamy texture and humidity-, sweat-, water- and transfer-resistant properties, it’s also available in 15 other bold colours. Try the striking cobalt Ocean Drive – perfect for when you’re transitioning from punk to arty New Romantic.
This handy two-in-one product features a brow powder at one end and a brow pencil at the other. Make German punk star Nina “power brows” Hagen proud by first outlining brows with the pencil, then filling in the sparse areas with the powder. Or use the wax pencil alone to perfect thin, ’90s Drew Barrymore style arches.
The French giant gives its thoughtfully designed four-shade, tri-finish (matte, satin and shimmer) eyeshadow palette a hyper chic cyberpunk update. Use the two greyish tones to colour and contour; the black to intensify; and the white to illuminate and widen the eyes. A jellifying system created with a blend of polymers and spherical powders guarantees a soft, creamy texture.
Embossed with the brand’s emblematic Oblique motif, this eyeshadow trio contains a compact range of shades spanning grey to black in metallic, glitter and velvet matte finishes for statement smoky eyes.

To lend a little (or a lot) of glitz to said smoky eyes: Go all out when packing on this glitter-rich eyeshadow in a coolly striking gunmetal silver shade. Created through a demi-pressed process that allows pigments to appear more vivid, it promises high-impact results and a smooth glide.
Turn to this compact palette featuring concrete grey, smoky purple and mineral taupe hues for a cool-toned, purplish eye that Boy George would approve of. Throw in a touch of the sky-blue shadow housed in the centre if you’re feeling a bit more upbeat.
Easily the edgiest and least expected shade in the new-to-town, much-buzzed-about lipstick range from Gucci. Essentially a jet black hue with a long-lasting creamy finish, this is said to offer an intense colour payoff while leaving lips feeling soft and smooth. Riot Grrrls would approve.
This line is the newest addition to the Dior Rouge family: Part lip care and part high-pigment lipstick, formulated with flower oils – a first among the brand’s lip colours – to further nourish puckers. Its “punkest” shade: #966 Desire, a vampy, ruby red hue (read: very Siouxsie Sioux) with a velvety, mousse-like finish.
Channel witchy punk vibes – think Fairuza Balk in The Craft – with this deep red lip colour so dark, it borders on black. Part of the new 12-shade extension of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Ink collection, it comes in an intense matte finish yet feels as comfortable as a second skin. Reportedly waterproof
and ultra long-wearing, the collection also doubles up as lip care, with an antioxidant-infused combination of Sappan wood and vitamin E that keeps lips soft and silky.
The Slim is the brand’s line of full-coverage matte lip colours with a super-rich “leather” effect. Now YSL Beaute introduces its lighter, more buildable cousin that retains the same matte finish, giving the option of a more air-brushed wash of colour or a heavy-duty look. What’s #110? A deep and daring fuchsia pink.
Part of the brand’s latest limited edition collection, this gold shimmer-speckled plum shade channels punk a la David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust.
The brand’s well-loved range of velvet matte liquid lip colours sees the addition of 12 new shades including this striking, punk-perfect deep violet. A “backlighting” technology forms a translucent gel base that helps pigments reflect light and plump up pouts.
