Founder Of Tarte: On The Many Ways To Use Shape Tape Concealer And Ditching Beauty Boundaries

American beauty brand Tarte recently launched its well-loved Shape Tape Concealer here in Singapore, known for its full coverage with a flawless matte finish. But, that's not all there is to it. Here, founder Maureen Kelly shares various ways the concealer can be used, the biggest makeup trends this year and a quick, fuss-free makeup look to try.

Not just an ordinary concealer

Maureen Kelly (MK): “The great thing about Shape Tape Concealer is that you don’t have to lift a finger — it does all the work for you. It conceals, highlights and contours, but it doesn’t stop there. We have a list of different ways to use it, with everything from hiding redness and hyperpigmentation to camouflaging acne scars, masking tattoos, priming eyelids for eyeshadow, and softening the appearance of fine lines.”

Her concealer application tips

MK: “My favourite way to apply concealer is to cover my dark circles. I use a damp blending sponge, apply it directly to any imperfections, and blend it in using the domed end of the sponge.”

Try using two different shades of concealer

MK: “Use the same shade as your foundation to cover up any spots or imperfections, but go 1 shade lighter to conceal dark circles.”

3 makeup items every woman should have in their makeup bag

MK: “Firstly, the Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara, as it lengthens, curls, volumises and conditions. I never leave home without it, and now, you’re able to personalise it with a charm initial, which I love. Now no one can “accidentally” take it. I also feel that one should always have the Tarteist Double Take Liner. It is a dual-ended eyeliner (with a liquid and gel formula) and it does not budge. Lastly, the Busy Gal Brow is my all-time favourite as it gives you that instant brushed-up look in seconds — it’s seriously so easy to use and delivers the perfect touch of colour.”
