With over three decades designing haute couture gowns, Russian-born and Israel based designer, Galia Lahav, is renowned for her glamorous bridal and evening creations. She tells us:
How did you get interested in designing for brides?
I got started when I opened my business as a producer of custom-made lace appliques. The majority of my clients were bridal gown designers so I was already part of the industry and understood what brides were looking for in their wedding dresses. I began designing them upon request, and that’s when the business slowly grew.
What is your design philosophy, and what inspires you?
I am committed to customising all of my designs and ensuring that the entire dress is handmade. You will never have a Galia dress that’s mass produced. Each one receives my personal attention, and is made according to a bride’s exact measurements. My clients – their happiness, special experiences and individual personalities – are my inspiration. I am honoured to be a part of such a special moment in their lives.
How would you describe the Galia bride?
Confident, fashionably aware, feminine, and a lady who loves extravagance.
