The one day Aliwal Urban Art Festival on Jan 17 kicks off Singapore Art Week. In its second year, the event is set to turn Kampong Glam into one huge block party.
The event celebbrates creative freedom and communal bonding, which would include an epic breakdance competition and graffiti lords working their legal magic on several vehicles. The outdoor festivities will be soundtracked by the Pushin’ On DJs on the Red Bull Defender Sound System.
Singapore’s only indie radio station, Lush 99.5FM will have a prominent presence at the festival, in a takeover of café A-for-Arbite. The station will be broadcasting a series of programmes that include interviews with the artistes performing at the festival, as well as an acoustic performance by Singapore hip-hop wunderkind ShiGGa Shay.
