hip-hop artistThe musicians who have influenced his sound

TLCB: “Recently, I’ve been into 6lack, Chance the Rapper, Daniel Ceasar and G-Eazy the most. These artists each have their own individual sound that’s not similar to one another and it’s pretty ironic but the reason why they have really influenced my sound is that of the way they tell their stories through their music. It really resonated with me and I personally aspire to tell my stories the same way.”

How he first got into music

TLCB: “I wouldn’t say it’s by chance but I did have other plans prior to pursuing a career in the music industry. Honestly, music found me. It was something that was for fun, a way to express myself that became a little serious. It also gave me a life and an adventure. Music has always been part of my childhood. Even though I wasn’t one of those kids that grabbed the karaoke mic at a young age – it was just always part of me.”

The #1 track to listen to from all the albums he released

TLCB: “I’d have to say YAYA.”

Manu Crooks – Day Ones
Kodak Black – Codeine Dreaming
6lack – Problems
KYLE – iSpy
G-Eazy – No limit
Marc E Bassy – Plot Twist
Travis Scott, Quavo – Saint
J.I.D – Never”

TLCB: “There’s so many really. Chance The Rapper would be a dream to work with. I love the way he tells stories and it’s so unique to him. It’ll definitely be a great learning experience. There’s so much love in all his work whether on stage, through his colouring book tour or his album. I want to share that with the people who listen to my music too.”

On the places he shops at

TLCB: “There aren’t any brands in specific but I’m definitely always scrolling through e-commerce sites such as Bodega and Farfetch. As for physical stores, I really like checking out Dover Street Market Singapore. I’m addicted to graphic tees. They are so comfortable, so versatile and pretty darn stylish too.”

How music influenced his style

TLCB: “Urban music and fashion go hand in hand, so I’d have to say music really does play a part in the way I dress up. The two play back to back. If Kanye wears something,  the world is watching. If ASAP Rocky carries a pouch on stage, you know it’s gonna be on another stage across the world. It’s just how social media affects our environment any inspiring people without any travel limit or borders.”

What to expect from him at Laneway

TLCB: “I’m out there to have fun with everyone and I really hope the crowd will have fun with me as well. Drink as much as you responsibly can and let’s celebrate. Whatever it is you want to celebrate – use my set as the party. If you’re there you’ll also be the first to hear the new single!”

Plans for 2018

TLCB: “My new single drops first week February! Watch out for that. The exclusive pre-order is on 19 January. Get excited.”
