If you’ve read Singapore author Kevin Kwan’s bestselling debut novel Crazy Rich Asians and its sequel, China Rich Girlfriend – both depict the lifestyles of the really really really rich – you’ll understand the point of spa treatments like Bali resort Alila Villas Soori‘s 96 Hours Blackout: pure decadence, just for the sake of it. (In fact, the spa package was created in collaboration with Kwan’s Crazy Rich Collection, an online exhibition of covetable objects and experiences.)
And talk about decadent – it starts with a helicopter ride from Ngurah Rai airport (you’ll be sent back by car). And then four days and nights of relaxing spa treatments in beautiful settings with ingredients such as black roses (in an ice bath), black rice (in a foot scrub), black volcanic sand (in a body scrub), black pearl powder (slathered all over you, along with honey, in a steam treatment) and even caviar (used in place of massage oil in a deep-tissue massage!). There are 16 treatments in all – more than enough to relax and rejuvenate even the most anxious city slicker/workaholic.
Throughout, you’ll stay at the 5-bedroom Soori Residence (below) with panoramic views of the sea and black sand beach that Alila Villas Soori is so well known for. And if you need anything – a snack, a cup of tea – just ask: Two personal butlers and two housekeepers are on standby 24-7 to cater to your every need. And of course there’s a private pool.
In between spa appointments, expect further pampering and calming activities: scheduled yoga classes, gourmet picnic lunches at scenic spots and dinners on the beach. On the fourth evening, there’s even dinner with the Balinese royal family at the Kerambitan palace – after you get decked out in traditional garb.
Basically, the 96 Hours Blackout promises to be the luxurious spa getaway that becomes a life experience you talk about over and over and over again. At US$38,888 (S$53,830) per couple, all meals and activities included.
