If you’re not familiar, Japan’s Hokkaido is popular for its one-of-its-kind fresh seafood, and you can now indulge in these sought-after delicacies without travelling out of town. The three Kaiseki menus, namely Hokkai ($190), Donan ($180) and Hakodate ($170), are specially curated by master chef Hiroshi Ishii, who has dabbled with many of Japan’s ryotei’s restaurants and worked here for 28 years.

Available for lunch and dinner, menu highlights include the lightly grilled, succulent Taraba-gani king crab, tender and sweet simmered Kinki fish and creamy baked Hokkaido potatoes served with butter, salmon roe or cod milt. You’ll also love the sweet, flavourful salmon miso broth in Ishikari Nabe’s hot pot. For dessert, look forward to the refreshing Yubari melon jelly that’s not only a definite treat, it’s a healthier option too.
