Cool classics = Cool album art.

Classic songs can mean anything from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 to Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up depending on who you ask. For our in-house music guru Jonathan Chia, though, the definition of classics come with a more timeless cool.

To provide some sonic accompaniment to the July 2020 Perennial Edition –  it is jam-packed with stories and features about fashion’s most enduring and endearing names and designs like Manolo Blahnik‘s BB pumps and Saint Laurent‘s tuxedo jacket – the man took an eclectic approach to the selection process.

Chia curated a 20-track playlist on our Female Spotify account featuring familiar songs and artistes anyone hooked on post-disco (cue Bobby O), synth-pop (there’s Pet Shop Boys) and early-day Bjork, during the ’80s to the aughts, will approve of. “There’s nothing from 2020; these are songs I consider perennials,” he says.
