#1: Symphony In Colours (Feb 3-8)

A debut collaborative not-for-profit art exhibition by 17 artists based in Singapore, the event will showcase works in a variety of mediums, from oil and acrylic portraits to Chinese brush paintings and mixed media installations. A portion of the exhibition art sales will go to HOME, an NGO based in Singapore that advocates for the welfare of migrant workers. 11am-8pm, Visual Arts Centre, admission is free

 

#2: Asian Civilisations Museum Secret Party (Feb 6-19)

As part of the ACM’s Port Cities: Multicultural Emporiums of Asia, 1500 – 1900 exhibition, the museum will host a “secret party” every evening that will include food, drinks and entry to the exhibition. Be prepared to feast on dishes that celebrate the cultures of various port cities (including Singapore) and enjoy cocktails specially created for the event by a mixologist. Asian Civilisations Museum, 1 Empress Place, $99 per person

 

#3: Chicago The Musical (Feb 8-26)

The award-winning Broadway and West End musical Chicago will return for a limited run this February. Set in the roaring 1920s and based on real life events, the long-running hit features iconic scores like “All That Jazz” and “Razzle Dazzle”. MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands, prices from $65-$1750

 

#4: Swedish Film Festival 2017 (Feb 16-19)

Held at independent cinema The Projector, the second edition of the Swedish Film Festival will feature a variety of drama, comedy and documentary films in its line-up, including five works from Swedish master auteur Roy Andersson. The Projector, Golden Mile Tower, Level 5, $13.50 per ticket

#5: Choking Hazard: An Exhibition About Toys (Feb 17-March 18)

Organised by Kult, this exhibition will showcase the works of 30 local and international toy makers and artists. By dismantling existing toys and remixing them into new products, the exhibition is a comment on the waste of mass production and over consumption. #6: Free Performances: Come Together (Feb 1–2, 13–28)

Following last year’s successful run that involved the best of Singapore’s indie music scene such as Linying and Nicholas Chim, Esplanade returns with Come Together, where different musicians collaborate to put on a show together. This year’s lineup includes the likes of singer-songwriters Shak, JAWN and VVOLF, rapper Mean and singer Mars. Esplanade, 1 Esplanade Drive, admission is free

#7: Singapore Cult & Underground Film Festival 2017 (Feb 24-26)

Organised by SCUM Cinema, a film society that has a penchant for weird, bizarre and absurd films, SCUFF 2017 returns with a mix of both old and new, with the lineup comprising films such as the drama-horror film ‘The Eyes Of My Mother’ and the Hong Kong thriller-drama ‘Prison On Fire’. Alliance Française de Singapour, 1 Sarkies Road, $13 per ticket
