The recent revamps at Orchard Road’s biggest malls bring with them first-of-its-kind boutiques, including two guaranteed to excite bag fiends. The first: Bao Bao Issey Miyake’s cosy standalone at Ion Orchard (#03-24), which carries the full range of the Japanese label’s iconic and highly functional geometric carriers and accessories. Opened last month, it’s also the only place to retail the signature Lucent tote and clutch in a fun blue/pink/purple combination, created exclusively for the store.
The other: Casa Loewe at Paragon (#01-11/12), which opens mid this month. The third in the world and the first in South-east Asia, the 3,000 sq ft space is the Spanish label’s conceptual flagship designed by creative director J.W. Anderson. Besides housing ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories, it promises to be a visual spectacle with stucco walls, polished Capri limestone flooring, and an agate stone entrance modelled after the one at the brand’s Madrid flagship, which was designed by architect Javier Carvajal in 1959.
