Marshmallow-like winter coats are one of Fall’s breakout trends, but French label Moncler has been specialising in them for 63 years. Previously sold only at Club 21, it opens its first South-east Asian flagship here at Ion Orchard (#01-17) this month. Here’s what you need to know about its signature product, the down jacket:

#1: The down comes from the feathers of aquatic birds raised in the South of Brittany and Perigord, and is known for its lushness.
#2: Each jacket contains about 300g of the plumage, hand-picked to ensure that the end product is lightweight and takes up minimal space.
#3: The exterior of each coat is made from a glossy nylon that’s highly breathable, crushable yet insulates well.

#4: It will keep you warm – the brand dressed the Italian team on the 1954 expedition to K2, the second highest mountain in the world, and the country’s ski team at the 1968 Winter Olympics.
#5: It’s one of the most fashionable puffer coats around. The brand’s high-end women’s line Moncler Gamme Rouge is designed by Giambattista Valli, while the silhouettes in its main line include peplum and cocoon styles.
