Fashion’s fixation with white sneakers is commonly traced back to the singular moment Phoebe Philo took her bow after her S/S ’11 show back in 2010 — shod in white Stan Smiths. In a time of four-inch heels and thigh-high boots, its unabashed simplicity was a breath of fresh air. Fast forward past the sneaker explosion in fashion and then trainers going mainstream, the magic about a pair of pristine, pared-back white sneakers is just as palpable a decade on. Just ask Adidas Originals.
While its Stan Smiths have twice become a household favourite now (when the shoe, first released in 1965, took on tennis player Stan Smith’s name in 1978 and, the aforementioned Philo moment), their Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in Triple White has too been having a hot streak since its launch back in April 2017. A quick search on the “stock exchange” of sneakers, StockX, has the colourway show up in the top four most popular Yeezy kicks based on number of sales, which is no surprise then that Adidas Originals is restocking it for the second year running. The shoe looks to remain the same from the previous two drops, its markers the brand’s Boost sole and sleek, knit upper.
