Hype isn’t exactly how most would describe Armani Exchange’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection. The plush logo hoodies and pullovers are the kind that the Jenners and Virgil Abloh wear when they don’t want to get noticed (doesn’t really work if you’re them). The most oversized item is the workman-style denim jacket (and it’s only gently so). The jeans — in the same cool lived-in finish — are model-off-duty slim, while the casual slip-on dresses are more grunge than 2018 EDM-meets-hip-hop. Available at the brand’s revamped boutique at Takashimaya Shopping Centre that opens next month, it’s in fact streetwear that’s rooted in the ’80s — when the street movement was born and was the real deal. In short, it’s effortlessly chic and for that, gets a 10/10 from us.
