#1: Moon J (Korea)

Founded in London two years ago by London College of Fashion graduate Jinhee Moon, the label moved its base to Korea last year. Its pieces are modern and playful, with interesting texture and colour combinations. For Spring ’18, it goes big on ruffles and ruched detailing, appearing everywhere from an asymmetrical skirt to an off-shoulder top.

Other accolades it’s gathered under its belt: The brand was selected to be featured at London Fashion Week in 2015, and was chosen as one of Vogue Italia‘s 200 emerging designers of 2014 as well as one of “The Next Talents”, a project by Vogue Italia and Yoox Net-a-porter that spotlights new and noteworthy designers to watch, last year.

#2: Jolin Wu (Taiwan)

The nine-year-old womenswear brand was founded by Wu, a graduate of the Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and the Royal College of Art in London. Her designs are thoughtful and intellectual, with a deft use of materials that evoke femininity and lightness.

Since its inception, the brand has earned coverage in Monocle, Wallpaper magazine and Vogue Taiwan. For Spring ’18, her collection is titled “Girls And The Shadow” and features loose, billowy kaftans and sheer dresses and tops that would make perfect additions to a beach holiday wardrobe.

#3: Pearly Wong (Malaysia)

Wong graduated from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology five years ago, and launched her eponymous label when she returned to Kuala Lumpur that same year. Her designs are genderless and ethically conscious, and edgy, skin-baring looks (like open-back dresses) feature regularly.

While her Fall ’18 collection is debuting soon, her Spring ’17 collection comprises wearable everyday pieces like a wide-leg jumpsuit, a skirt with asymmetrical draping and graphic cover-ups.

#4: Sretsis (Thailand)

Founded in 2002, the label’s creative director Pim Sukhahuta is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York. While it’s known for producing fun, quirky and girly separates, so much so that celebrities like Beyonce and Katy Perry have been spotted wearing them, within Asia the label hasn’t seemed to have received much attention or press – although it very much deserves it.

After all, with printed tulle evening dresses (very Valentino) and adorable slogan tees (overdone, yes, but still hot right now), their pieces are pure Instagram fodder. The same magic is reflected in its Spring ’18 collection, which is like an English rose garden come to life, thanks to floral embroidered dresses, gingham crop tops and cherry-printed coats.

#5: Reves Studio (Indonesia)

Launched in 2016 by Indonesian Karina Widjaja and Singaporean Karina Pricilla Tjoa, the womenswear label specialises in relaxed, effortless styles. Co-founder Widjaja studied at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicate de la Couture Parisienne, and previously worked at Balmain HQ in Paris.

Unlike what you’d expect of many online stores in Asia, the label utilises luxurious materials like wool and silk organza, with the aim of offering their own interpretation of “power dressing” through designing pieces that are modern yet feminine. Take their upcoming Spring ’18 collection, titled “Sycamore”, as an example: The collection is heavy on stripes, from work-friendly pinstriped suits to weekend-appropriate sheath dresses.
