At last season’s Spring/Summer 2020 shows, there were two clear camps on how bags should be moving forward from micro-bags – they either had to be very big, or stay very small.
Zoom in on the small bags, and instead of the impractical micro-bags Jacquemus made trendy, brands were taking another approach: they made a bag for everything. Case in point? The Fendi Fall/Winter 2020 show, where accessories were galore. Think smartwatch cases dangling from belts, or the small bags that accompanied big paper-bag-esque totes.
Similarly on the streets, multiple mini bag-ccessories were carried this season, each with its own purpose. From airpod cases to phone slings and even lipstick holsters, these small bags were a functional sibling to the micro-bags of last season.
And while some of us might find the layering of these accessories excessive and even more impractical, there’s another option to fully utilise your already-purchased micro bags as well: stack your bags together. Pair a micro bag with a large tote, and you’ve got an additional compartment to your bag.
