#1: Louis Vuitton x Supreme
Need we say more about this insanely popular collaboration? When Louis Vuitton debuted its capsule collection with Supreme on its Fall/Winter 2017 runway during Men’s Fashion Week, the internet went nuts. It was so popular that the collection was on sale for only a single day (because demand was so high) in a handful of cities so only the most dedicated of shoppers could get their hands on the products. In Singapore, shoppers queued overnight at Ion Orchard’s Louis Vuitton store in hopes to purchase some of the products.
#2: Colette x Saint Laurent
The Parisian concept store may have sadly closed its brick-and-mortar store this year, but its slew of collaborations were definitely always newsworthy. The one we were most obsessed with this year? When it teamed up with Saint Laurent. Unlike many other collaborations, which only had apparel and accessories, this collection came with vintage film cameras, speakers, lighters, skateboards and a Vespa, making it one of the most covetable collabs ever.
#3: Erdem x H&M
Swedish fashion giant H&M partnered up with Canadian designer Erdem Moralioglu, who is known for his hyper-feminine eye, in 2017 for a romantic collection like no other. In Singapore, customers began queueing more than 20 hours before the doors finally opened at 8:05 am and by 10 am, most of the hot-ticket items were sold out.
#4: JW Anderson x Uniqlo
The Japanese fashion label often collaborates with a string of other creatives such as Disney and Ines de la Fressange but the one that took the cake this year? Its partnership with British fashion designer JW Anderson. Many of the key items on Uniqlo’s website were quickly sold out on the day it was launched and the queues at its Orchard Central store? Massive.
#5: Louis Vuitton x Jeff Koons
Another tie-up from Louis Vuitton that made waves this year? The one where American art world giant Jeff Koons was involved. For the second Masters collection, Koons chose six esteemed artists and an iconic work that best represented them. Why this made it into our list? It has the most beautiful and covetable designs, which brings high art to the high fashion.
#6: Coach x Rodarte
When two American luxury labels with different aesthetics (one champions romantic, elegant pieces while the other boasts an edgy, rock-chic appeal) partnered up for a limited edition capsule collection comprising of ready-to-wear clothes and bags, we of course had to include it in our list of the best fashion collabs this year. It resulted in a refreshing collection that had been highly anticipated since 2016.
