Pink might not be the most obvious colour heading towards the year end but it’s definitely one of the hottest colours to watch out for next year, dominating runways from Valentino to even the normally discreet Hermes.
Celebrities, models and social media titans have one thing in common – they’re all obsessed with the colour lately. From super-saturated pinks worthy of Elsa Schiaparelli (the designer most associated with the colour) to pale, frothy baby pinks and every hue and shade in between, it’s clear that they’re all thinking pink – care to try it this party season?
Queen B and husband Jay Z came as vintage Barbie and Ken for this year’s Halloween – ingenious, really – but what really made her “dolling-up” complete was the cotton candy pink Gucci fur coat.
Making her debut at Paris Fashion Week (as a designer), Ri Ri was a vision in head-to-toe pale pink after her Fenty x Puma Spring 2017 show.
Rihanna is arguably one of the biggest proponents of the colour and here she is in another outfit awashed in baby pink – this time in a suit by Pascal Millet.
Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stole the show at the recent LACMA Art + Film 2016 gala clad in a satin ruffled gown from Gucci’s Resort 2017 collection (the brand was a sponsor). Can we just say, she makes the perfect English rose?
The social media titans and BFFs had a totally #twinning moment in various hues of pale pink – and in Balmain, no less.
Fellow model Karlie Kloss went for the opposite end of the spectrum in Schiaparelli-pink Moschino during Paris Fashion Week to greet her fans.
Like Rihanna, the super-feminine Fan Bing Bing is no stranger to the colour: here she is at a press event in at least 3 different shades of pink – we spot rose glasses, a magenta bag and a lilac suit.”
Wary of trying out the colour? Gigi opted to incorporate it into her outfit via accessories – it’s always a surefire way of testing the waters; if your ensemble is a bit blah for the day, a pair of killer heels like Gigi’s totally transforms the look.
Model Miranda Kerr’s outfit is technically simple – an easy fit-and-flare silhouette consisting of a mock-turtleneck and an A-line skirt. But it’s her skillful mix of colours that distinguishes her – she opted for bright pink and an equally loud hot orange (also a key colour next season). While the usual fashion advice is to build the rest of your outfit around a key piece, if you have the confidence to pull it off, I say – why not? Note: Kerr does opt for a super-clean make-up look to counter-balance the bright colours.
Model-of-the-moment Jenner offers the most bad ass take on the colour: she threw on a pale-pink leather jacket over a bandeau top, studded choker, vampy lips and ponytails that gave us major Harley Quinn vibes. Pink doesn’t look so sugary sweet now, does it?
