The Chunky Flatform From The ’90s Is Getting Its Groove Back

Remember these?

If you, like the rest of the fashion crowd, can’t get enough of resurging trends from the ’90s, here’s another one joining the ranks of fanny packs and dad sneakers: chunky flatforms sandals. We mean, this latest footwear trend is kind of hard to ignore when Instagram’s most stylish girls have been flooding our feeds with pictures of them going to town in these statement-making clompers, featuring either a single thick band across or with thong-like straps.

While the thick-soled silhouette first surfaced in the ’70s, it wasn’t until two decades later that
they were popularised (the Spice Girls may or may not have contributed to this). And fast-
forward to today, they’re just starting to be all the rage again with brands like Ganni, Simon Miller and Steve Madden, just to name a few, putting out more iterations than ever: electric neon hues, woven styles, graphic motifs, you name it. Click through the gallery above for styling inspiration.
