It was a night of rock and roll glamour when we took over an eclectic three-storey shophouse on Neil Road on Friday for our 45th anniversary party. Because this magazine’s all about a fun, out-of-the-box approach to covering fashion, beauty, design and pop culture, we transformed the entire space into an updated ’70s style nightclub named Studio 45 with the likes of a 5m-long mirror wall for party selfies and a 2.6m-tall, rotating floral monument in the centre of the dance floor.
On-site collaborations with various event sponsors added to the glamorous funhouse atmosphere. Cue a temporary tattoo studio by Converse, a fragrance-meets-cocktail bar by Karl Lagerfeld, and an Instagram-worthy dessert room by Estee Lauder with shades of its Double Wear Stay-In-Place foundation displayed from floor to ceiling like an immersive, Pantone-inspired colour chart.
The highlight of the night, however, was the nearly 300-strong crowd that boasted some of the most stylish and daring names from the local creative scene. Among them: top fashion influencers Savina Chai, Mae Tan and Jamie QQ; musicians Narelle Kheng and Sam Rui; actress Fiona Xie; models Fiona Fussi and Iman Fandi; cultural impresario Tracy Philips; DJ Ginette Chittick; and artist Polina Korobova. Here, a peek at how the fantastic crew parties.
