With promos for the second installment of the Fifty Shades film trilogy now ongoing, American actress Dakota Johnson has been stepping out in some of the most statement looks right now. By that, we don’t mean anything OTT or overtly revealing. Instead, we’re obsessed with how she’s appeared, unassumingly, in some of the most alluring red carpet looks for the movie’s press tour.
Last week, Johnson wore Maison Valentino Spring Summer 2017 to the film’s L.A. premiere. Its dusty pink hue, paired with her soft, wavy locks and glowing complexion, made for an immediately arresting look.
For accessories, she wore a ruby ring and earrings from Cartier’s high jewellery range, which served to accentuate her femininity rather than detract from it.
What stylist Kate Young dressed her in next for its Madrid leg: A Gucci Pre-fall ’17 chiffon ruffled gown, which came with gold sequin trims and was paired with a silk floral brooch. Michele’s designs are a firm celebrity favourite, and the actress has proven that she can pull them off easily (remember the Spring ’16 Gucci ruffled dress she wore on the Jimmy Fallon show last year?) while looking the very picture of poise and elegance.
At the film’s Germany premiere, she opted for a slinky Saint Laurent number, and showed off a thigh-high slit and open-back detail. It was a fresh choice for Johnson, who tends to eschew revealing looks (ironic but true). With a crimson red lip and a messy chignon, this seductive look puts her well on her way to joining more red carpet best-dressed lists.
