German luggage specialist Rimowa and contemporary artist Daniel Arsham have joined forces once again to create a limited-edition release that combines two buzzwords right now: partying and travel. The result: a collectable piece that reworks Rimowa’s iconic Pilot Case luggage and introduces a turntable sculpture designed by Arsham.
Titled Rimowa x Daniel Arsham Eroded Turntable in Pilot Case, the design will be released on Oct 7 and marks the second time the two are working together, three years after collaborating on a Rimowa Classic Attache briefcase design. This time, the New York-based artist and prolific luxury collaborator has turned his attention to the Pilot Case luggage, which debuted in 1994 and has since become a cult favourite among deejays and airline staff alike for its distinctive grooved aluminium body.

Only 500 models of the Rimowa x Daniel Arsham Eroded Turntable in Pilot Case in black will be sold exclusively in Asia.
The exterior of the four-wheeled luggage has been plastered with vintage-style stickers in an exclusive shade of Arsham Green Pantone to give a worn-out and aged effect that fits the central trope of Ashram’s work.
Encapsulated within is an eroded hand-cast turntable made from plaster and crushed glass to evoke a rare archaeological find. Arsham describes the turntable and Pilot Case as pieces from a “future dystopia”. Reminiscent of his famed Future Relic series that put a futuristic play on mundane objects, the turntable also reflects his interest in documentation and architecture.

The turntable comes cushioned in a removable protection foam and with art handling gloves.
Only 500 pieces of the Rimowa x Daniel Arsham Eroded Turntable in Pilot Case ($5,720) will be sold in Asia – where it will only be available in black. The silver-coloured iteration of the luggage, meanwhile, will only be stocked in Rimowa’s European, North American and South American markets.
