The Bar suit at Christian Dior’s S/S’47 couture show at the house’s salon at 30 Avenue Montaigne

Few fashion houses are as storied as Dior and its current guardian, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, has proven to be a dedicated adherent to the house’s 70 plus years of history.

Dior has a number of It bags under its wing and the latest, the 30 Montaigne, is a rather special one; it’s named after the house’s traditional headquarters at 30 Avenue Montaigne, which dates back to 1946.

The 30 Montaigne bag translates that historical point of inspiration into a boxy shoulder design that comes with a clasp modelled after founder Christian Dior’s initials. It can be worn in various ways – by hand, cross-body or shoulder-style – thanks to the adjustable strap and for now, the 30 Montaigne comes in a one size and two finishes (canvas, $4,500, and leather, $5,300), but we expect there’ll be many more iterations to come with its classic good looks.

Complementing the bag is the 30 Montaigne ready-to-wear collection that consists of apparel (such as the house’s signature waist-defining Bar jacket) and accessories. Think of it as a small but streamlined wardrobe of Dior essentials that we imagine would be ideal for a short vacation or busy professionals.

The 30 Montaigne collection is available in selected Dior boutiques around the world – in Singapore, only the ION Orchard store carries the line.
