This Doraemon Collection Might Just Be The Cutest Uniqlo Collaboration Ever

Call it the meeting of three Japanese icons – Uniqlo (or to be more precise, its UT T-shirt line), the 48-year-old animated character Doraemon and art giant Takashi Murakami. The latter is perhaps best known within fashion circles for his long-standing collaboration with Louis Vuitton – remember those colourful Speedys from the early 2000s? – and Uniqlo has now tapped on the artist to create a special capsule line entitled “Doraemon UT”.

Numbering 13 products in all, the line consists of a (super cute, if we might add) plush toy and men’s/kids’ T-shirts emblazoned with two main graphics – one from the Doraemon comic archives and the other from Murakami’s own artwork inspired by the robot cat which was exhibited at the Doraemon Exhibition Tokyo 2017.

How to differentiate between the two graphics? If you’re a fan of Murakami’s, you’ll undoubtedly recognise his signature smiley flowers, only this time they’re interwoven with familiar characters such as Nobita and Doraemon.

Set to launch May 28 exclusive at Uniqlo’s Orchard Central flagship and online, prices range from $14.90 for a kid’s T-shirt to $49.90 for the plush toy.

Here, we round up some of our favourites from the collection:

Takashi Murakami T-shirt, $19.90
Oddly enough, the collection doesn’t seem to have any designs for women – we’d suggest snapping up either the kids’ or men’s versions anyway, depending on your size. Takashi Murakami T-shirt, $19.90
Peer closer and you’ll notice an additional character from the series – Dorami, the younger sister to Doraemon – on the top right hand corner. Original Doraemon comic T-shirt, $19.90
Comic prints are one of the hottest trends from the S/S’18 collections (just refer to Prada), and this T-shirt features one from the comics where Nobita is (as usual) begging for Doraemon’s help. Doraemon x Takashi Murakami plush toy, $49.90
The key item to get, this plush toy looks set to become a collector’s item, so we wouldn’t dawdle on snapping it up. Like this?
