H&M’s designer tie-ups, which originated back in 2004 with the ever forward-thinking Karl Lagerfeld, are always blockbuster events – queues form overnight and collections have been known to sell out.

The Swedish fast-fashion giant’s latest designer collab turned out to be the Paris-based, Italian couturier Giambattista Valli, who’s best-known for his dramatic, uber-feminine tulle confections.

Valli’s frothy yet sophisticated creations have been a familiar sight on the red carpet – he dressed 14 women at this year’s Met Gala alone, and is also a firm favourite with Rihanna. Side note: it will also be the first time Giambattista Valli is foraying into menswear, to which he points out that “pieces from the men’s collection can easily be worn by women”.

We got a preview of what to expect when Valli himself and H&M’s creative advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson made their entrance at the amfAR Gala at Cannes with six celebrity muses dressed head-to-toe in the limited edition – get ready for it – pre-drop collection.

Instead of just one main launch (like past years), H&M is releasing a pre-drop collection on 25th May, Saturday. That means all of the same looks captured on the red carpet just hours ago – Kendall Jenner’s neon pink tulle minidress above, singer-songwriter Chris Lee’s petal pink confection, together with the others- will be available for purchase online at H&M’s website and in selected stores around the world (Singapore isn’t one of them, unfortunately).
