Sure, V-day might be a little passe, but who can resist situational dressing? Here, we learn some style tips from the from the fashion crowd (both local and international) to give you some inspiration.

#1: The Perfect In-between

Don’t know exactly where you’re going for your date? We think this outfit from streetstyle star, Chriselle Lim is the perfect in between — it isn’t too dressy, neither is it too casual. A cropped off-shoulder is a great go-to for a date because it’s easy to wear and instantly makes you look more feminine. We also love how she wore her hair behind her shoulders for a more polished look.

#2: Blush Tones

There isn’t a better time to pull out your red and blush-toned pieces. Savina Chai, founder of local womenswear Eight Slate, wears a girly pink and red ensemble that we think would look great for a date. Tone-on-tone outfits are not only super easy to put together (since you’re just pulling together pieces of similar hues), they also look really polished.

#3: The Failproof Maxi

A flowy maxi dress on a date could never do you wrong — be it for a beach date or a fancy dinner date. Here, local style influencer, Yoyo Cao pairs her floral printed maxi dress with white kicks. This outfit is great for the girl who likes the best of both worlds, style and comfort.

#4: Go Edgy

Headed out for a night of fun? Dress the part with an edgy metallic get-up. Here’s what we can learn Korean It girl Irene Kim’s outfit: stick to a colour combination and keep it consistent throughout the outfit — it’s an easy way to look like you put in effort into your outfit, when you really didn’t.

#5: Bring Vintage Back

Fashion designer and host Alexa Chung looked effortlessly stylish in this denim look. We love the vintage appeal that the high-waisted bottoms and socks are serving. This outfit is super easy to recreate with basics you already have in your closet. Leave your hair tousled like Chung for a youthful charm.

#6: Go Minimalist

Television actor and youtuber Claudia Sulewski went minimalist with her outfit and we’re obsessed. She wears a nude ultra-cropped top and a fitted flare pants, and kept her accessories at a minimum. The result? A classy and polished look. If you’re more conservative, top this look off with a slightly oversized blazer.

#7: Stylish And (Super) Casual

If you’re not into dressing up — we’ve got you covered too. Fashion designer Chiara Ferragni proves that you don’t need to be super dressed up to look great. She wears a graphic hoodie with ripped jeans and high-top sneakers. We like how she didn’t go too casual – to balance out  the super chill get-up, she went for a fresh, everyday makeup look.

#8: A Matching Set

Youtuber Jenn sports a matching set from Tularosa and it looks nothing short of amazing. The  benefit of getting a matching set is that your entire look is basically settled. Jenn’s outfit in particular stands out because of how body flattering it is. The ruffles on the top and pants give the illusion of a shapelier and feminine silhouette.
