What did we get when we booked out a theatre for the launch of our September New Bohemia issue? Only the coolest of friends and collaborators serving up all kinds of retro for our ’90s themed screening party. And the venue was no different.
Arthouse cineplex The Projector was transformed into a space of our throwback dreams. Think: hallways decked out in colour-blocked balloons, a kacang puteh cart with all the trimmings and a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 Romeo and Juliet, complete with matching themed gin and tonics courtesy of Tanqueray. For a spritzy grapefruit-Campari gin and tonic, a Montague and for an almond syrup and lemongrass option, a Capulet.
And though the screening – peak Leo, anyone? – was cause for good times in itself, that wasn’t all we were celebrating. Cue the debut of our very first mini music video with the ultra-talented Shye-Anne Brown, who served up major dream pop vibes and a killer pout – thanks to Chanel Beauty’s Rouge Allure Ink Fusion lippie. In the shades #804 Mauvy Nude and #808 Vibrant Pink, to be exact.
Of course, it wouldn’t truly be a ’90s affair without jetting off in a party bus for the evening. The last stop of the night was a Zouk-bound dance sesh at Adrian Wee’s eatmepoptart. Here, a look at how we do ’90s the Female way.
