Soo Joo Park. G-Dragon. Chaelin aka CL. These are names you are probably familiar with and love for their distinct sartorial styles, but even if they didn’t make an appearance at the recent Seoul Fashion Week, the Korean fashion scene is thriving. Proof: photos of these stylish showgoers who demonstrate that mixing prints and artful layering are key to being spotted and snapped. Further proof: These Korean street style stars, some of whom have followings that can rival that of stylish locals like Velda Tan (@belluspuera) and Linda Hao (@lindahaoliyuan). By Jolaine Chua.
If you like girly with an edge, you’ll dig the outfits the bubbly model, who’s well known for her rainbow-hued hair, puts together. Examples: A gold-toned biker worn over a bold yellow printed bodycon dress; or a long-sleeved floral top with a tan miniskirt. She’s big on makeup and skincare, too: Read our interview with her where she reveals her beauty secrets.
Scroll through this model’s Instagram account and you’ll find that she puts together casual outfits in neutral hues with aplomb. Fun fact: She was a contestant on Korea’s Next Top Model’s Cycle 2.
Ho Yeon might just be South Korea’s very own Cara Delevingne, with her silly selfies and goofy poses on Instagram. Besides frequent appearances on the runway, she has a knack for elevating basics like denim jackets and jeans.
Irene Kim isn’t the only Korean fashionista sporting brightly-coloured hair. Fashion blogger Soomin, who has gone from fluorescent pink locks to purple, pink and blue streaks, regularly updates her feed with snaps of her youthful looks – oversized sweatshirts, caps, and plaid shirts are regular features.
Kim’s Instagram account is, in a word, #goals. If your wardrobe mostly consists of black and white items, follow her for the sleek, monochrome looks she pulls off effortlessly, save for the occasional Instagram-worthy flatlay.
This bob-haired fresh face dishes up heaps of boyish appeal, layering bomber jackets over slip dresses and pairing ankle boots with cropped flares.
A Big Bird-esque yellow fluffy coat: check. A bandeau paired with a black blazer: check. The Korean model’s ultra-feminine getups have even earned her a feature in Elle Japan.
The fashion blogger gives basic pieces a personal twist (case in point: pairing a camo print jacket with a flowy white dress, as seen in the photo above). Follow her for inspiration on easy, breezy outfits.
