The Iconic Lacoste Logo Gets Some Comic Relief

French sportswear label Lacoste taps three artists to reinvent its iconic crocodile logo by way of three ultra-adorable capsule collections.

There is the Lacoste runway collection which we love for its fashion-forward and minimalist take on the brand’s tennis heritage. Then there is its commercial line of prepster-influenced casualwear that’s known for its cheery colourways and sportif elements. This month, the latter gets even louder with the launch of the Crocoseries capsule collection which sees the iconic crocodile logo reimagined for a range of graphic T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps and shirts by three collaborators who are known for their exuberant works.

Contemporary Los Angeles-based art duo FriendsWithYou came up with a range of caps and T-shirts with cutesy rainbows and clouds that call to mind their famous inflatable sculptures. Meanwhile, the New York- and Sydney-based artist and product designer Jeremyville tapped into his love for comic culture and street art with a cheeky print featuring imaginary creatures made of tennis balls and rackets interacting with cartoon crocodiles. Last but not least, French illustrator Jean-Michel Tixier, created a series of tongue-in-cheek personae for the Lacoste crocodile which included the hipster and French dandy. If all this is putting a smile on your face, well, that’s the point.
