Following her acclaimed debut album Season 2 that launched in June, singer-songwriter Sam Rui (with phone) is exporting her edgy R&B sound to South Korea, starting with the remix of an existing single featuring a K-pop rapper. If you haven’t heard of Mas1a (looking into mirror), you should now. The brassy reggae and hip-hop artist has recorded with Pharrell Williams, provided vocals for Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, and will launch her fourth album, An Irie Guide to the Far Eastside #IG2DFES, next February. The 10-track project is a showcase of the region’s burgeoning hip-hop scene, and features collaborations with Vietnamese rapper Suboi, Indonesian reggae man Ras Muhamad, and more. Dress, Fendi.
