Remember how we said those amazing baskets we spotted at the Loewe showcase at the recent Salone del Mobile in Milan can only be yours if you happen to be there? Time to lift up those frowns and sad faces, folks. The Spanish fashion house is so inspired by that outing and its dedication to craftsmanship —10 craftsmen and artisans from around the world created objets d’art inspired by baskets, hand quilting and calligraphy — that it is launching a commercial spin-off of bags and curious in stores.

Loewe goes up on the wicker back trend.

Launching globally on May 30, the collection includes basket bags, totes, and lifestyle items like ikebana vases and stones wrapped in leather (a stylish paperweight, we say). The Casa Loewe store at Paragon Shopping Centre will carry 26 designs, with prices starting from $290 for a bag charm in the shape of a fishing lure to $5,250 for a handwoven Gate top handle bag. Each piece is produced by artisans using traditional Galician weaving and knotting techniques and take cues from the rustic baskets and woven leather pieces that were shown at Salone del Mobile.

P.S. If you’re still thinking of getting wicker bags for that summer trip, we suggest you check these babies instead.
