There’s been a lot of talk about It bags this season, what with some fashion houses unleashing their OG designer bags from decades past. For those who prefer to stay away from these trendy designs, then the three bag line debuts by Loewe might suit the whole anti-statement bag movement. Part bohemian, part arty, these bag lines build on the Spanish maison’s rep for great leather goods and its creative director Jonathan Anderson‘s penchant for toying and reinventing heritage and luxury goods.

The New Bucket Bag: Balloon Bag

What it is: Think of this medium-sized design as an architectural and practical bucket bag given the ease and practicality of a tote. Designed as an open bucket bag design sans any fastening or zips (you know, so you can look nonchalantly cool) the piece is crafted from soft grained calfskin ($2,590). The last not only makes it hardy for the demands of everyday use, but also gives the bag a relaxed soft structure. For something more rustic and casual, there’s a version made with linen ($2,250).

The Elevated Hippy Staple: Slit Bag

What it is: You might associate this crochet number with what holiday-goers in Bali or Phuket would be carrying. But under Anderson’s watchful eye, this silhouette gets exaggerated and stretched into an oversized volume for something more OTT and out of vacation territory. Hand-knotted from natural raffia, the design comes in two sizes ($1,190-$1,350) and is a versatile bag to own too. It can be carried in three ways – as a crossbody, over the shoulder and as a tote (there are handles inside).

The Evolved Classic: Lazo Bag

What it is: Fans of the brand’s popular Gate saddle bag would recognise the knot influence of that said style in this tote. The soft and slouchy calfskin bag ($3,490) is devoid of any zips for the closure and instead relies on the contrasting calfskin straps to cinch and fasten the opening. A relaxed update on a classic bag design.
