Mashing stylish threads with a substantial cause has been something of a calling card for Mango — for reference, check out the Mango Committed line, which is their environmentally-conscious range.

For their S/S’19 ad campaign (and the accompanying hashtag #MangoNewVoices), the Spanish label throws its support behind highlighting the importance of culture and creativity in the community — a crucial aspect that often gets neglected.

Hence the pick of a cast who come predominantly from fashion and entertainment but also dabbles in other artistic ventures. Think bold name such as Adwoa Aboah (model and activist), Sasha Pivovarova, Jolie Alien (models and painters) and Patrick Schwarzenegger (actor and entrepreneur).

In other words, it’s a diverse, multi-faceted cast that represents the Mango woman — who we’d like to think as forward-thinking and individualistic.

Now, on to the clothes: the collection trades on a mix of wardrobe staples such as trench coats but elevated with details that say 2019: think a colour palette filled with pastel hues — we’ll say yes to a pale sky-blue trench coat, thank you very much. Our favourite is probably the slouchy “suit” that comes paired with cycling shorts — perfectly on trend yet its unusual sage colour means it’s not run-of-the-mill.

There is admittedly a touch of bohemian vibes in this collection, which is one of the biggest trends in Spring/Summer 2019 — clock those beach-ready strappy sandals that comes with seashells (how precious is that?) and gauzy, tie-dyed dresses. Providing the perfect foil (get it?) are metallic accessories such as a cute little cross-body bag and trousers to keep things a tad unpredictable.

The Mango Spring/Summer 2019 collection is available in stores now.
