Max Mara Has The Coolest Fashion Meets Art Collection

Italian house Max Mara is well-known for its excellent outerwear – coats, jackets, wraps – they’ve got it down to a T and usually in minimal-chic earth tones. But art? Not so much.

All that is set to change – the topography of real and imaginary metropolises inspired a Max Mara limited edition capsule collection conceived in collaboration with Liu Wei. He is one of China’s most prominent contemporary artists and is known for his abstract takes on China’s rapid pace of modernisation.

Here, we pick out the highlights of the collection:

#1: Max Mara threw a huge party in Shanghai
Held just yesterday at the prestigious Shanghai Exhibition Center, Max Mara showcased its Pre-Fall 2017 collection (of which the Liu Wei capsule is part of) to more than 1,000 guests. #2: Major influencers were in attendance
Instagram stars of the likes of Kristina Bazan, Irene Kim and Eleonara Carisi flew in from all corners of the globe for the Max Mara fete. #3: The collaboration with Liu Wei screams architectural-chic
Featuring trompe l’oeil prints and labour-intensive work such as laser-cut alpaca (a prized wool similar to cashmere) embroidered onto a base of cashmere and wool, the capsule combines the best of Max Mara’s technical finesse while showing off the abstract shapes that allude to Liu Wei’s works. #4: You can shop it now
The exclusive 11-piece collection has been made immediately available after the show in Shanghai last night – shop it online here and at Max Mara flagship stores worldwide. Quantities are extremely limited so make haste.   Like this?
