With a theme like Camp: Notes On Fashion, this year’s edition of the Met Gala – the annual benefit for New York’s Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art – allowed attendees go big, wild, theatrical, over-the-top, heady with unbridled cheekiness – yeap, you get the drift. The exhibition itself, which is housed in the museum’s Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall, runs from May 9 through September 8, with fashion items from Thom Browne to Tomo Koizumi on display.
On the red carpet early this morning the fashion was an extravaganza. Lady Gaga performed not one but four outfit changes with her Brandon Maxwell designs that could rival a runway show on RuPaul’s Drag Race. While Jared Leto appeared in a gown carrying a replica of his own head a la Gucci’s Fall/Winter ’18 show. Here, we take a look at all the fashion camp we loved.
