The skater movement is in high drive now. On the streetwear front, skate wear establishments like Bronze 56K and Palace have gained cult status among the fashion crowd, who wear them in a ironically chic way. Footwear brand Vans, too, has undergone a revival — helped in part with high-profile collaborations like the recent one with ABC Mart. Then there are cultural influencers like South Korean longboarding darling Ko Hyo Joo, who is making her ’90s California cool aesthetic, well, cool again.
Now add high-fashion brand Miu Miu to the mix. The Italian brand is latching on the whole skater hype with its demi-couture shoe renditions for Cruise ’17. The typical white plimsolls get updated in marabou feathers, luxe satin and plenty of crystals. Admittedly, they may be too flashy for the half pipe, but they’re just the kind of thing to give you that edge for the next holiday party. $1,000-$1,980
