The Marc by Marc Jacobs Instagram campaign star has signed on to British modelling agency Nevs. She tells Female how it happened, and what’s next.
In January, we announced that Singaporean student/freelance event organiser/FKA Twigs lookalike Nadia Rahmat was ‘one to watch’ after scoring the Marc by Marc Jacob’s Spring/Summer 2015 campaign through the brand’s #castmemarc project. This past weekend, our predictions came true when the 24-year-old announced on her Instagram (@skinnykatwoman) that she has signed with London-based modelling agency Nevs.
“(A representative) from Nevs contacted me a week after the #castmemarc campaign came out and I’ve been communicating with the company since,” she tells Female. “When I told them I’d be visiting London this month, they said to pop by their agency… They’ve been promoting me on their website’s landing page, put up a pic of me (alongside all their other models’) in the office, and have been really enthusiastic, which is amazing.”
Rahmat joins the company of stars like Karl Lagerfeld fave Brad Kroenig and Sudanese refugee-turned-supermodel Nykhor Paul, both also represented by Nevs. She lets on she’ll remain in Singapore to complete her uni, and continue her events career, which means for now she’s available only via direct bookings (that’s industry speak for being booked without a casting/audition). She says: “Modelling will always be a side thing for me, but if a (great) opportunity arises, I’ll definitely explore it.”
Wherever that trip takes her, we’ll be following that journey.
