There’s only one accessory that can go with any outfit and be worn in several different ways – the ubiquitous scarf. While thick shawls, wraps and stoles are definitely not practical in Singapore’s weather, a thin, small scarf – preferably made of silk – can serve as a fun adornment. Below, we highlight the multiple ways to rock this versatile accessory:
For Pre-Fall 2017, several designers updated the accessory with loud, eye-catching prints: there is a leopard-print version at Marc Jacobs, and a romantic floral-print iteration at Kate Spade New York.
The easiest and most effortless way to don this accessory would be to wrap it around the neck in an insouciant manner – balance it with a tough leather jacket, or use it to break up a monotone outfit.
It can also serve a practical purpose by keeping your neck warm, especially in milder temperatures where a thicker scarf is not needed. Or, wear it in a ‘cowboy’ way just like how you’d do a bandana – this will work especially well with a denim look.
For a more creative take, accessorise your bag with it – the easiest way will be to knot it on one side of the bag, or twirl the whole scarf along the handle.
Another method will be to tie it around your wrist, instead of wearing a bracelet or cuff. Wear a sleeveless top to show it off, or go for a more subtle touch by letting it peek out under a long sleeve.
