nike air presto black singapore

Last July, we did an exclusive piece on the opening of Dover Street Market Singapore (DSMS)  and the people behind it. Fast forward a year later, and DSMS is celebrating its first anniversary this weekend – and in the company’s signature trend-setting style, they’ve enlisted an army of collaborators who’ve designed one-off collections for the anniversary.

Notable names include A Cold Wall, this year’s LMVH Prize winner Doublet, Nike, Converse, Potato Head Bali and more. Here, our picks of the best:

A Cold Wall

New to A Cold Wall? Perhaps, but you’d do well to catch up on this fast-rising label – designer and founder Samuel Ross was handpicked by Virgil Abloh to join his team and at 26, was a LVMH Prize finalist this year.

Samuel Ross will be at the store in person to launch the collection – he’s also curated a CD with a score specially for DSMS that will be available for sale as well.

Doublet

Japanese designer Masayuki Ino of Doublet made history earlier this year when he became the first Asian designer to win the prestigious LVMH Prize over more established names such as Eckhaus Latta. FYI, while it may look like simple streetwear, his technical skill with textile manipulation was what impressed the likes of Nicolas Ghesquiere and Clare Waight Keller, who are both on the LVMH Prize jury.

For DSMS’ anniversary, Ino has come up with a series of overprinted T-shirts that include what looks like a cheeky take on Singapore’s iconic Tiger beer.

Better™ Gift Shop

Avi Gold, a regular Toronto-based streetwear artist and the man behindBetter™ Gift Shop is a regular collaborator with the likes of Nike and Comme des Garcons, is known for his tongue-in-cheek bootleg merchandise that typically become collectors’ items – LeBron James has been papped wearing his T-shirts.

Even if you’re not a fan of streetwear, these cute ’70s-esque accessories are going straight into our cart.

Nike

The hotly anticipated all-black update of Nike The Ten: Air Presto drops at DSMS this weekend with a special container installation designed by Nike. There’ll also be T-shirt screenings by local artist Sam Lo aka Sticker Lady.

Converse

There’ll also be a special container installation for Converse’s exclusive merchandise – and two colourways for the DSM x Converse One Star sneakers.

Potato Head Bali

Potato Head Bali has teamed up with Mezcal Circle Club and Green School for its latest series of merch that’s perfect for nailing the camp collar/Hawaiian shirt trend that refuses to go away. Bonus: it’s perfect for our weather too.

RASSVET OKTYABR

Things might get confusing but bear with us. Rassvet, Gosha Rubchinskiy’s relatively new skateboard label, has just launched its fourth collection, and its called Oktyabr (Russian for October), which is the name of the label’s upcoming skate store in Moscow.

Confusion aside, we love the well-shot campaign for the collection and the colours employed in the T-shirts. They’ll be available in-store, as well as DSMS’ e-store.
