Australian label Helen Kaminski’s raffia hats are not only lightweight, but what you should bring with you when travelling.
What: The lifestyle hat label was founded in 1983, and debuted here at Club 21b and Takashimaya D.S. in 2013. Helmed by design director Ailsa Roe (above), its styles range from newsboy caps to visors, made mostly from high quality Madagascan raffia.
USP: The brand makes classic hats look refreshingly modern with simple lines, minimal embellishments (think slim Italian grosgrain ribbon trimming) and neutral colours. This season, it debuts the Epony and Vailea, two white cloche-like styles that look less Changeling, more resort. Meanwhile, its raffia designs are made for travel. The material is flexible, mildly water-resistant, and resilient so the hats can be rolled up, tossed into your luggage and still bounce back into shape. From $163.
