Global colour authority Pantone has just declared its colour of the year for 2018 – and it’s the bluish purple shade called Ultra Violet.

Rihanna, being the trendsetter that she is, immediately gave her nod of approval with a purple on purple on purple look on Instagram – immediately hitting up two trends at once (colour of the year and matchy, tone-on-tone). As for Riri’s striking lip colour, there’s no word yet on the exact shade but she did tag her own cosmetics label, Fenty Beauty, so stay tuned, because it’s likely to sell out.
While red and green are the usual festive colours, why not try for purple this season?
We love this cute mini crossbody bag – adorable size aside, the liquid metal finish is totally party-appropriate.
Who says you can’t mix party with a dollop of cool art-girl vibes?
Worn on Balenciaga’s F/W’17 runway, we’d suggest laying this over a pair of jeans.
Add this shimmery Kenzo number to the sweaters we want to live in for this rainy season.
This wrap skirt might just be the closest to the exact shade backed by Pantone.
When we first saw the bags in pastel hues come down the Loewe Spring/Summer 2018 runway (one of our favourites for the season), we were immediately smitten. My bet – it’s going to be one of the biggest bag hits of the season – plus it ties in well with the pastel trend that’s huge for S/S’18.
Remember those minimalist black strappy sandals that have been everywhere (on the red carpet and in stores) for the past two years? As much as they’re versatile, we’d like something a little extra for the party season and this ultraviolet pair by Longchamp fits the bill nicely.
The name says it all on this H&M lippie.
Want to really glam it up this festive season – or any other time, for that matter? This cascading stunner from Bvlgari will certainly do the trick.
Glitter socks instantly add some fun and school-girl charm to any outfit and can be paired with both sneakers and heels.
Why not go all out and pair the socks with glitter pumps as well? Plus – under $500 for Jimmy Choo pumps?! Sign us up.
We’ll be painting this shimmery, holographic shade to attend the Star Wars: The Last Jedi screening this weekend.
While this veers closer to a more red-based purple, there’s no denying that this is the ultimate purple party dress of the season.
If you’re not a heels kind of girl, pairing glitter socks with these louche fur slides make for an unexpectedly cool combination as well.
