Paris Fashion Week is nearing its end, and unsurprisingly, we have been inundated with many mind-boggling, head-scratching and sometimes confusing accessories from the likes of John Galliano and Balmain. Below, we highlight the accessories that necessitated a double take:

#1: Saint Laurent boots

These glittery Saint Laurent boots, in an eye-catching slouchy silhouette, was the one accessory that caused major buzz once it debuted on the runway. It was such a hit item that even cool-girl Rihanna was spotted wearing the boots fresh off the runway just mere hours later.

#2: Balmain mouth jewelry

From afar, this custom-made mouth jewelry piece could be mistaken for metallic gold lipstick. Creative director Olivier Rousteing collaborated with famous French artist Dolly Cohen, who has worked with the likes of Cara Delevingne and Kanye West, to create this coveted accessory.

#3: John Galliano headdress

These goat-hair headdress pieces – designed by the celebrated British milliner Stephen Jones, who has worked with brands like Dior and Vivienne Westwood – were mostly paired with the all black looks from the collection, creating an almost halo-like effect.

#4: Acne Studios sunglasses and earrings

Creative director Jonny Johansson sent down the runway not one but two head-turning accessories – irregular-shaped shades with dark red, black and cobalt blue lenses, and statement earrings made of clay, some of which dangled with charms.

#5: Rochas pumps

These bejewelled, ankle strap Rochas pumps exuded an elegant and slightly retro vibe when viewed from the front, but turn around and the sculptural heel reveals itself, giving these classic pumps a slight modernist twist.

#6: Nina Ricci bag

Guillaume Henry was inspired by the Western cowgirl for this season’s collection, and the one stand-out accessory is the suspended saddle bag looped around a belt which opened the show. Apart from neutral colours like camel and black, there was also a refreshing grey-blue iteration.

#7: Maison Margiela headdress and pumps

Trust John Galliano to deliver striking accessories at Paris Fashion Week – the furry tote bag turned headwear was arguably one of the most talked-about accessory once it hit the runway. Galliano’s more wearable cut-out pumps is another accessory sure to become an It shoe.

#8: Celine blanket

Phoebe Philo has churned out another very desirable accessory – though whether its actually more of a home decor item is another question. Casually slung on some of the models’ arms were giant, mohair blankets, some of which came emblazoned with phrases like ‘bangers and mash’ and ‘beef stew’.
