Admittedly, the much anticipated Prada x Adidas collaboration was one most people didn’t see coming but after some digestion, we have to admit it’s a really good idea. Read on to find out what we mean. The only question is, why did it take so long to crystallise?
The Italian maison’s first cobranding project with the sportswear giant is titled Prada for adidas Limited Edition. You’ll have seen on social media that it’s a succinct collection that comprises of one bowling bag and a sneaker. You’ll also probably recognise the sneakers, even if you aren’t a shoe fiend – it’s Adidas’ long-standing Superstar, which was first launched in 1969. For this collaboration, the changes made to the Superstar are subtle; Prada added its own magic by introducing full-grain leather for the upper body, along with its logotype on the side. The final product is called the Prada Superstar.
The bag on the other hand, titled Prada Bowling Bag for adidas, references Prada’s own bowling bag, a popular silhouette associated with the house since the 2000s and has re-surfaced in recent seasons. Additionally, the bowling bag as a style is a no-brainer nod to Adidas’ own history in sports gear. See what we mean about a match made in heaven?
Now onto what you’re really here for – the sneakers and bag are sold as a unisex set (each goes for $4,840, with every piece made in Italy) and there are only 700 sets available worldwide. In Singapore, you can get it at Prada’s Ion Orchard store but otherwise, you can shop it online at Prada and Adidas’ websites respectively. The collection drops today so get cracking if you want to secure it.
