One must-know F/W’18 trend
“Outerwear – everything from faux fur ones to leopard print coats. There are so many amazing coats in almost every collection, like that great jacquard one at Victoria Beckham, or the electric-blue glossy number that opened the Marni show. Whatever you do, this Fall, make sure your outerwear is amazing.”
New brands on her radar
“Young Korean brand Rokh (which recently came in second at this year’s prestigious LVMH Prize and whose founder, Rok Hwang, is a Celine alum), and Nanushka, a contemporary brand from Budapest that uses a lot of vegan leather that looks so real and luxurious (both are available on Net-a-porter).”
Vintage haunt
“Hands down, it’d have to be William Vintage (in Marylebone, London). It stocks a lot of Versace, as well as designers such as Norman Norell and Geoffrey Beene. It really has everything: from cool vintage names to couture pieces by the likes of
John Galliano.”
Scent of choice
“It’s hard to say because in beauty, you try so many things all the time. Right now, it’s probably Byredo’s Gypsy Water, which is so classic. I’m also very excited for Carine Roitfeld’s upcoming fragrance range – it’s a project we’re doing with her. Each scent is unisex, and really beautiful.”
A furniture designer she swears by
“Jorge Zalszupin (a Brazilian designer who started his atelier in the ’50s, and is known for his modernist approach) – I just ordered a vintage bar cart (dating back to his early years). I love the whole Art Deco era and its aesthetic, as well as mid-century furniture.”
All-time favourite artist
“The late Austrian figurative painter Egon Schiele. I know his human figures always look very disfigured, but I love the expressiveness of his lines.”
R&R retreat
“I love Phuket’s Amanpuri – it’s basically heaven, and one of my perennial favourites.”
Restaurant recommendation
“In my neighbourhood (of Marylebone), there’s a Japanese restaurant called Dinings that makes very creative Japanese dinners. The first floor has just a counter, so it only fits maybe six.”
An author she’ll never tire of
“Haruki Murakami – any time a new book of his comes out, I’d buy it. One of his latest works is Men Without Women. It’s basically about men who don’t have women in their lives, so they’re quite lonely. I love that his books always have these weird mystical elements to them.”
