There’s an artisanal craft in furniture making and horology called marquetry, where pieces of wood, shell or ivory are inlaid in wood veneer. The result: works of art, really. First introduced in Plexiglass last season, these diary-sized clutches – now updated in hand-applied leather patchworks of Cadillacs and panthers – are the fashion equivalent.
