We first spied on these shades during the last Fendi fashion show in Milan. These off-kilter slim frames perched on the faces of models like Adwoa Aboah, Kaia Gerber, and Rebecca Longendyke, as well as top influencers like Caro Daur and Jasmine Sanders.
Our first impression was that they look like something South Korean eyewear giant Gentle Monster does, and we were half right. In fact, these sunglasses are a collaboration between Fendi and the super trendy eyewear company. The two-piece collection which drops this month at the stores of both brands also happens to be a unisex one.
The first design, called Gentle Fendi No. 1 ($615) riffs on the ubiquitous teeny-weeny shades that are a hit with the millennial crowd. The cat’s eye-shaped lenses are available in black, Barbie pink and turquoise. The hip touch: One lens is flanked by the word “Gentle” and the other lens is flanked by the word “Fendi”.
The second model – dubbed Gentle Fendi No. 2 ($565) – is a quieter affair and updates classic aviator frames. The folks added a playful touch in the form of contrasting colourful acetate bridges which are paired with frames with dark grey lenses, silver lenses or rose gold and dark green mirror lenses.
