Shopping In Singapore: Denim Beyond Casual Fridays, Affordable Diamonds With An Antwerp Cool Cachet, Effortless French Linen Shirts

Five of our favourite releases to snag before they're gone.
Nineties-inflected styles might be the rage for denim now, but Sportmax just reminded us that the rugged fabric looks great in a feminine wardrobe too. Its eight piece-strong Denim Culture capsule collection (from $459) reinterprets the fabric in a raw, regular or stretch finish, with pretty touches like ruffles on pencil skirts and ruching on bell sleeves of a jacket. EURO VISION
Be it fashion labels or jewellery, Belgium always seems to churn out the coolest names to know. Case in point: diamond house Diamanti Per Tutti, a seven-year-old fine jewellery brand from Antwerp which just opened its first outpost in the region at Raffles City.   The brand has built a niche for its affordable — prices typically range between $250-$360 — and contemporary bijoux designs made for every day thanks to its use of clean lines and subtle flourishes.  Each piece features the brand’s ethically-sourced, hand-set natural diamonds that are paired with sterling silver finished in either white rhodium or plated in 18K gold. STAPLES CENTRE
One Japanese specialist has become our go-to for smart wardrobe updates. And no we’re not talking about Marie Kondo. For S/S ’19, Uniqlo has updated its range of premium French linen shirts made from Normandy linen to include trendy vivid hues like fuchsia. Besides that, the women’s range also includes a shirt style with a buttonless skipper neck collar for a quick way to ace effortless chic.   A FRENCH WAVE
At the recent Spring/Summer ’19 couture shows, Jean Paul Gaultier reminded us of his signature use of pinstripes, adorning them on trompe l’oeil jeans and an origami-pleated skirt suit. The designer adapts that same menswear motif, but in a more discreet manner as the lining for his latest collaboration with French travel brand Lipault Paris.   Available at selected Samsonite boutiques this month, the collection spans a travel range that includes a duffle and toiletry bag, as well as an all-leather range of lifestyle goods comprising pieces like an expandable Boston bag and trendy bum bag. LUCKY STRIDE
If wearing the auspicious colours aren’t enough for your Chinese New Year ensemble, then Adidas Originals has a wilder idea: Throw on a lucky phrase in the mix. For its Lunar New Year edition, the brand’s tie-up line with Pharrell Williams features a BYW knitted sock sneakers ($380) with the word “ambition” embroidered across the upper that’s emblazoned with the design of dragon scales in red and yellow.
