The ubiquitous chunky sneaker trend may have earned a bad rep for being “ugly”, but Red Valentino’s versions for Resort ’19 might just debunk that notion. Inspired by the graceful footwear worn by ballerinas, the brand has launched two trainers ($500-$550) that are big on the pretty factor as well as comfort thanks to a new flexible sole.   On one hand is the Red Ballet pair which is embellished with a waxed cord bow and elastic bands to mimic the look of pointe shoes. On the other is the Glam Run, a lightweight sock sneaker design that comes in a variety of princess-ey finishes like ribbons and rhinestones embroidery. BRAND LAB
Like E.T., Back To The Future, and Stranger Things, pop culture influences hailing from the ’80s have an instantly cool vibe about them. Which explains why Nike’s iconic “Just Do It” tagline, which was coined in 1988,  is a popular slogan for retro-inspired merch.   To mark the 30th anniversary of that three-word mantra, Nike has collaborated with Dover Street Market for a range of hoodies and T-shirts ($69-$119) that are co-branded with the latter’s logo. Besides large “Just Do It” slogans, some pieces also carry quirky labels such as “Just Smash It” and “Just Wear It”.   So do. IT'S ELEMENTARY
Rings and jewellery inspired by the Earth, Water, Fire and Air might give you flashbacks to Captain Planet cartoons from the ’90s. But trust the folks at Japanese pearl specialist Mikimoto to turn an inspiration of the four earthly elements into a series of modern jewellery designs.   The brand’s new Universe Elements collection features rings and earrings in organic shapes that are accented with Akoya cultured pearls and studded with diamonds. The silhouettes are meant to denote the respective elements: Circular and triangular bands on the rings are meant to represent Earth, Water and Fire, while pearls stand for Air. CHANNEL U
Christophe Lemaire fans, consider this a PSA: Uniqlo will be dropping a small selection of its design-driven Lemaire-led Uniqlo U collection from Jan 14 before the full range hits stores from Feb 1.   Stock up on basics such as quilted ultralight down jackets ($99.90), high-rise wide leg denim jeans ($59.90) and crew neck T-shirts ($14.90) — all of which are designed with a minimalist and clean eye. Additionally, this season’s collection will feature the collection’s first-ever linen pieces which come with bold patterns on open collar shirts, shorts, and dresses. You know how bag charms are the hottest thing in accessorising now? Loewe just upped the game by launching a new personalisation service featuring actual charms. Launching at its Paragon store from Jan 23, the service will be known as the Letter Dice Charms programme.   As the name suggests, the charms are made of dice cubes plated in gold and platinum. Customers who purchase a Loewe bag can choose to string three to five of these dices — which are engraved with characters, symbols and alphabets — onto a calfskin strap which will be attached to their bag.
