The folks at denim specialist Diesel has added a new range to their offering. Called Velvet Denim, this debut is made from a new hybrid material that combines tough hardy denim with the soft luxurious feel of velvet flock. The style ($459-$600) is available in three styles for women that include a skin wide-legged cropped style with a high waist (left) as well as a boyfriend cut with a low crotch (right). With fun colourways like Bordeaux red and beige, these go right to the top of our list for casual Friday dressing.
Meet the gladiator sandals of bracelets. And by that, we mean Hermes’ latest iteration of the popular Medor Infini double tour leather bracelets will put you in a summer holiday mood. The French maison has created versions ($680-$1,150) that allow two bracelets to be joined together to create a super dramatic look for your wrist. Launching next month, the trick lies in a clever system concealed behind the palladium-plated pyramid stud clasp of these bracelets.
The Fall/Winter runways have been dominated by the presence of black, largely thanks to the big punk influence. And new-to-town Italian fashion label Ianua is the latest name to add to the list of brands championing this movement. Founded last year by Mia and Adelina Chivu, the brand launches at Surrender on August 29 and boasts a repertoire of predominantly dark wardrobe pieces ($460-$1,030) with an aesthetic that the Hailey Bieber generation has aced. Think velour bustier toga top and silk satin jogger pants with zipper cutouts. Wear with lots of bada** attitude.
Minimalist and classic timepieces are something the Danes do well. So what does new Scandi watch label August Berg bring to the game? The brand – available on www.augustberg.com and subsequently at Norbreeze retail outlets like Raffles City and Takashimaya S.C. – makes a case for thoughtfully-designed timepieces that riff on a sleek ’50s aesthetic. The debut collection, Serenity, boasts 28 quartz-powered timepieces (from $239) in either a 32mm or 40mm case and an anti-reflective single-domed sapphire crystal glass which gives an unobstructed view of the time 24/7. The large crown – inspired by the ones on retro aviator watches – means winding the timepiece is easier. The watches also feature a choice of interchangeable straps, from classic leather to a metal mesh bracelet to a smooth and woven nylon strap. And for eco-warriors: All the watches are delivered in a sustainable and reusable bamboo box.
