If you know Korean-Italian DJ Peggy Gou – or follow this It girl on social media – you’d know that she dresses up in a wardrobe full of colours and fun prints and lives on a diet of tomboy chic staples. You can cop that style too, now that the Berlin-based Gou – she was a former stylist – has launched her own fashion label. Called Kirin (it means “giraffe” in Korean), the label is a go-to for street-worthy designs like denim jacket, kimono jackets and bucket hats that reference retro club culture and Korean mythological motifs and is stocked at Surrender with prices ranging from $320-$2,180.
Not all ’90s trends make you look like an extra on The Mickey Mouse Club. Especially not the lucite heel shoe trend that is a throwback to the clear plastic heels that were popular for evening shoes. The revival of this look has seen brands sculpting them into artsy shapes mostly. But the folks at Stuart Weitzman, however, take a sleeker futuristic slant with its new Lucite collection (from $725) which features a low block heel in Lucite that’s transparent or comes in colours like gold, blue and grey for styles that range from booties, pump, sandals and loafers.
If you missed the first collaboration between Alexander Wang and Gentle Monster last year, the two brands are joining forces once again. For the sophomore outing which hits stores on Sept 12, Alexander Wang has interpreted one of the eyewear label’s popular models – a cat’s eye style with a smooth curved front and thick temples – with a slithering snake motif around the lenses. Available in either black or clear frames, the model ($453) will be available at the Gentle Monster.
If you think most restored vintage watches from fine jewellery brands are just meant for as museum pieces or belong in the vault of private collectors, then you’re in for a treat. Vacheron Constantin is putting its Les Collectionneurs series of restored watches from the entire 20th century – which the maison has tracked down from auction rooms and private collectors – up for sale. Spanning models like a triple calendar wristwatch from 1947 (left) and a moon phase timepiece from 1949, each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and a two-year guarantee. For a close-up look, head down to the brand’s Marina Bay Sands boutique from Sept 7-Sept 16, and to its Ion Orchard outpost from Spet 18-Sept 30.
Based on Fall’s obsession with the mountaineering and alpine adventure theme, Adidas Originals’ latest collaboration with Japanese label White Mountaineering should be on your radar. The latter which was founded in 2006 is a pro for creating outdoors-inspired streetwear using the functional, high-performance textiles. This tie-up sees two versions of the Nite Jogger sneakers ($250), which is known for its reflective materials, rendered in an energetic mash-up of leather, suede and mesh on the shoe uppers.
